Dean Collins, President
Dean C. Collins is a 1979 graduate of Point University. He held the position of interim president at Point from early 2006 until February 2009, when he was appointed president by the University’s board of trustees. After graduating from Point, Mr. Collins earned a master’s degree in counselor education from Auburn University.
Mr. Collins founded Auburn Christian Fellowship at Auburn University and New Directions Counseling Center. He was also vice president of human resources with CheckFree Corporation and continues to work with Fortune 500 companies through DC Consulting.
Prior to joining the Point administration in 2006, Mr. Collins served as an advisor to the University and its trustees, as well as a part of the University’s adjunct faculty and as the interim vice president of student development.
Mr. Collins and his family now reside in Lanett, Ala. – near the West Point main campus –and are currently members of Spring Road Christian Church.

David Deeter, Campaign Chair
David Deeter graduated from Georgia State University with a bachelor's in business administration and then later with a master’s in business administration. Mr. Deeter is a co-founder of Frazier & Deeter, LLC, which is a Top 100 accounting firm in the United States. He advises clients in all aspects of financial business management including coordinating and analyzing clients' financial information in the areas of mergers and acquisitions, financial planning and cash flow analysis.
Mr. Deeter has extensive industry experience in real estate, finance companies, construction, manufacturing, service companies and nonprofit entities. Named one of the Top Five Most Admired Peers in the CPA profession, he was also given the Distinguished Alumni Award in 2002 from his alma mater’s School of Accountancy. A founding trustee of Whitefield Academy in Atlanta, Mr. Deeter currently serves on the board of directors of CPAmerica International, as well as Point University.

Smith and Betty Lanier, Honorary Campaign Chairs
A graduate of the United States Merchant Marine Academy in Kings Point, NY, Smith Lanier has over 50 years’ experience in the insurance industry. He currently serves as chairman emeritus of the Point University capital campaign with his wife, Betty. He has also served on the board of trustees for the University for many years, and holds the position of Chairman Emeritus of J. Smith Lanier & Co.
Mr. Lanier earned the Founders Award from Atlanta Christian College and the 1998 National Small Business Person of the Year award. He has served on the board of trustees for Oglethorpe University, LaGrange College, Auburn University Foundation School of Human Sciences and the United States Merchant Marine Academy. |
