Atlanta Christian College is now Point University

A New Name, A New Location Founded in 1937 as Atlanta Christian College, Point University is a private, four-year liberal arts institution in East Point, Ga., preparing students to influence culture for Christ in all spheres of life. On the leading-edge of Christian education, Point University is the school of choice for the next generation of young thought leaders who seek to live out their faith in the marketplace and influence culture. In February 2011, Atlanta Christian College announced the relocation of its main residential campus from its landlocked site in East Point (just outside of Atlanta) to the town of West Point, Ga., along the vibrant I-85 corridor. The new campus – to officially open in West Point in June 2012 – lies midway between Atlanta and Montgomery, Ala., in the heart of the Georgia-Alabama Greater Valley community.		What’s Happening When As of July 1, 2011, Atlanta Christian College and its satellite locations became Point University; all campuses began operating under that new name. In Spring 2012, Point University launched an adult learning campus in Savannah. In Summer 2012, administrative offices will relocate to the new campus. Fall 2012 will mark the official transition of Point University’s traditional campus to West Point. Adult learning classes will continue to be held at the East Point campus and satellite locations.
Why “Point University”? Just as God frequently called the Old Testament heroes to new and exciting lands, He often accompanied that life transition with a symbolic changing of name. Not only does “Point University” reflect where the school has come from (East Point) and where it is going (West Point), but it reflects the uniqueness of our students who serve as points of influence in culture and in the marketplace. Point University students are making the cross visible in all facets of life.
