Why Relocate? Benefits to Students

In Phase I, Point University students will live at
nearby Crest Club Apartments, part of a dynamic
new community at The Venue with a pool,
clubhouse, fitness center and outdoor cooking
stations and adjacent to retail including restaurants,
  grocery store and shops.
Point University’s expansion to West Point will offer students a new, vibrant school home from which to impact the marketplace in exciting, culturally relevant ways.

Students will continue to reap the benefits of Georgia’s HOPE scholarship program, which contributes towards college tuition for eligible undergraduates.

The new campus will provide students with access to additional majors and degree programs. It will also afford students with shared use of a performing arts center/playhouse in nearby Lanett and a school chapel located just off of West Point’s Main Street, academic classes in the renovated, historic former textile headquarters building (complete with an all-new open-view entryway and campus central courtyard) and more.

The West Point relocation will also enable the new Point University to expand their athletic program offerings to include football, golf and tennis for the first time.

Students will have convenient access to the Valley
  Community Center & Sportsplex, a first-rate,
  54,000-square-foot complex with tennis courts,
baseball fields, soccer fields, Olympic indoor
aquatic center, weight room, walking track,
basketball and racquetball courts, full-size football
  stadium and an amphitheater.

Student residential options will be upgraded as part of a two-phase campus housing project beginning with club-style apartments only minutes from the heart of downtown, accessible via a free student transit system. The plan will culminate with renovated dormitories in historic downtown West Point, creating a walkable campus amid the shops and restaurants that comprise the town’s Main Street and scenic river areas.

The first-rate, 54,000-square-foot Valley Community Center & Sportsplex, conveniently located within walking distance of the Phase I student apartments, is home to tennis courts, baseball fields, soccer fields, an Olympic indoor aquatic center, weight room, walking track, basketball and racquetball courts, full-size football stadium and amphitheater – all eagerly awaiting student use.

Students will also be able to take advantage of swimming, skiing, sailing and other water sports activities on the over 500 miles of shoreline of the 26,000-acre West Point Lake and boat, kayak or fish along a scenic, undeveloped stretch of the Chattahoochee River.

Future site of Point University’s academic classes, this historic building was once the headquarters for
renowned textile manufacturing company West Point-Pepperell. The complex will be renovated to
accommodate the campus expansion and will serve as the campus hub when opened in fall semester
 2012.
