Teaching Philosophy
In the classroom Alan focuses on the practical applications of business and management education for the betterment of his students and the organizations they will one day be a part of. Dr. Kemper states, “Cognitive learning is only valuable to the extent that it can be applied. Real, life changing, learning happens when you are forced to apply concepts and theories in the real world. My goal is to live and work at the intersection academic theory and practical application. In the Point Business Department we want to provide our students with the academic tools, and practical experiences to be influencers in their companies, communities, and churches.”

Professional Certifications and Memberships
Alan currently holds a Lean Six Sigma Black Belt from The Georgia Institute of Technology, a Project Management Institute CAPM certification and is a Project Management Institute member. He has served on the Board of Directors for the Chattahoochee Valley Educational Fund, Blueridge Conference on Leadership, Georgia Teach Christian Campus Fellowship, and the Auburn Christian Fellowship. Alan also serves on the Mission Committee at his local church, Spring Road Christian Church.

Research and Consulting
Dr. Kemper’s current consulting and research interests include employee engagement, leadership, maximizing human capital, developing organizational cultures for strategic competitive advantage, and the practical application of management training in the business environment. He regularly works with community and business leaders to help them become more effective managers and leaders, and to develop strategies to better their organizations. These experiences are then translated into the classroom to help his students understand some of today’s most relevant and challenging business problems.
