At Point University, our online Bachelor of Science in Child Development program equips students to work with young children (birth through third grade) in a variety of settings, preparing activities and environments that foster physical, social, emotional, spiritual, and cognitive development.
Graduates of the child development program are equipped to work in preschools, camps, daycare centers, private schools, churches, non-profits, community organizations, and other settings that serve children and their families. Upon completion, students are eligible to apply for an Early Education Teacher Certificate (birth through pre-kindergarten) from the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI).
- Demonstrate familiarity with the milestones of physical, social, emotional, spiritual, and cognitive development children are expected to display from birth through age 8.
- Create organized lesson plans that include goals, materials, procedures, and assessments appropriate for young learners.
- Employ a Christ-like attitude and respond appropriately and non-judgmentally to the diverse needs of the children and families being served.
