The importance of being sensitive to the genre of the text: narrative, poetry & wisdom literature, prophetic literature, gospel, and epistolary genres should also play a role in the interpretive process. A text cannot be interpreted properly if its literary form is ignored. For example, the difference in approach to reading a comic, novel, or poetry. An expositor should ask what and how regarding the text.
