Parent FAQ
What makes the Elevate program different from a traditional degree?
Elevate is a unique higher education model that creates a “bridge” between the university and the workplace. Point University partners with specific businesses and organizations to provide an achievable, debt-free path to a college degree.
How does the partnership work?
If a student is an employee of an Elevate Partner, the partner organization helps cover the cost of tuition. This allows students to gain professional experience while working toward an accredited associate, bachelor’s or master’s degree.
Is this an online or on-campus program?
The Elevate program is designed for fully online, degree-seeking students.
This provides the flexibility needed to balance work commitments with academic progress.
Is it truly "debt-free"?
The goal of the Elevate program is to eliminate the need for student loans. By combining employer tuition benefits with federal and state aid (like the FAFSA), students are able to graduate without taking on any educational debt.
Are there specific academic requirements to stay in the program?
Yes. To maintain eligibility for the Elevate program, students must meet specific academic standards:
- Undergraduate: Maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.2.
- Graduate: Maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.65.
- Course Load: Students must complete 15 hours of online studies during the eligibility period.
Does my child need to fill out the FAFSA?
Yes. Participation in the Elevate program requires the completion and submission of the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid). This ensures that all available grants are applied before employer benefits cover the remaining tuition.
What degree programs are available through Elevate?
Students have access to more than 40 in-demand online programs. These range from business and psychology to more specialized fields, all taught with a Christ-centered worldview that emphasizes spiritual and professional growth.
What is Point Career Academy?
As part of the program, students can also earn professional certificates in high-growth industries. These certificates are designed by industry leaders like Google, IBM and Microsoft, giving students specialty skills that make them stand out in the job market immediately.
