Students who wish to apply for financial aid to assist in the cost of attending Point University are encouraged to follow the steps below.

Step 1: Apply for a personal identification number (PIN) for the student and his/her parent or legal guardian at to electronically sign your Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).

Step 2: Gather the following documents:

  • Social Security Number
  • Alien Registration Number
  • Federal Tax Return, W-2s, and other records of earnings
  • Bank statements and investment records (if applicable)
  • Records of untaxed income (if applicable)

Step 3: Complete and submit the FAFSA at Please include Point University’s Title IV code, 001547, in Step 6 of the application to insure your application is released to us.

Step 4: Complete the HOPE Scholarship/Georgia Tuition Equalization Grant Application (Georgia residents only who will not be filing a FAFSA) at Please follow direction on creating a username and password, if you do not have an exist login.


Some FAFSA applications are selected for verification by the Department of Education.   Verification is the process of reviewing the accuracy of the income information reported on the FAFSA. Students selected for verification must provide documentation of specific data elements reported on the FAFSA to the financial aid office.   The Financial Aid Office will send communications to students selected for verification with specific documents and forms necessary to complete the process. Additional information may be required after reviewing the submitted documents. Most required income information can be validated by using the IRS Data Retrieval Tool. Applicants for financial aid who are accepted for admission and have submitted all required documents necessary to establish financial aid eligibility will be packaged with available financial aid funds for which they qualify. The Financial Aid Office will send an e-mail notification with instructions for accessing the financial aid award in the student portal. Applicants will have 30 days to accept, reduce, or decline the award and submit any additional documents –for example, complete a Federal Direct Loan Master Promissory Note and Loan entrance counseling– to finalize their award.
