Point Names Dean of College of Biblical Studies and Ministry

Point University announced this week that Jay Rice has been named dean of the College of Biblical Studies and Ministry.

Rice has served as full-time pastor in various Christian churches from Virginia to Arizona for nearly 30 years. Most recently, he served as senior pastor of Northwest Christian Church in Acworth, Georgia. Throughout his career, he has invested in helping people grow in Christ, step out in faith and reach their potential.

As a researcher, Rice has focused on pastoral attrition and specifically helping young church leaders clarify their call to ministry. He has been married to his wife, Carrie, for 23 years. They have four children, ages five to 18.

“I’m excited to step into this new space to help even more young leaders achieve their God-given potential,” said Rice. “My passion is to see Point University become the premier institution for ministry education. I cannot wait to see what the Lord has in store!”

“After a competitive search with fantastic candidates, we are excited to bring Jay Rice to the College of Biblical Studies and Ministry and into the Point University community,” said Jon Ernstberger, chief academic officer. “His passions for ministry education with growing leaders and for resiliency among current church leaders were apparent and exciting to us as we met with him.”

“With more than three decades of experience, he comes to the University as a seasoned church leader, and we are confident that these experiences will translate into raising the already excellent education of Point University students to a new level,” said Ernstberger.
