21 Days of Prayer Brings Together Point Family
Yesterday concluded Point’s annual “21 Days of Prayer,” an intentional time at the beginning of each new year for personal and group reflection and prayer among the Point family. Every day, for twenty-one days, Point students, faculty, staff and trustees received a devotional in their e-mail inbox. These devotions—written by various members of the Point family—encouraged and challenged the Point family to consider how they as individuals and as a community can better love God and serve his Kingdom in 2017.
During the 21 Days, faculty and staff gathered together to pray for the university, local communities and the country. The Student Life office provided daily prayer focuses for student-led groups that met for prayer.
President Dean Collins wrote devotionals for the initial and final days, ending the program by noting the theme of “God’s provision” had been unintentionally woven throughout all the devotionals.
“The narrative of the Bible teaches us that God is our provider. From the Bible’s description of God’s provision in creation in the garden of Eden to the provision of never thirsting again in the new of Heaven, we see time and time again that God provides all we need,” Collins wrote. “At just the right time, our Heavenly Father sent us his son who reminds us that we can pray boldly that God’s Kingdom would come to earth as it is in Heaven.”
While this initiative lasted only twenty-one days, its purpose was to make a long-lasting impact on Point and the Kingdom through dedicated prayer, fasting and meditation. Wye Huxford, vice president of spiritual formation, hoped that the initiative would “make our campus a more naturally praying community.”
You can find all twenty-one devotionals on the Point University blog.
