Presidential Search FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
Please see the answers to frequently asked questions about Point’s presidential search below. Additional questions should be submitted here.
Who will select Point’s next president?
The responsibility of selecting the University’s president rests with the Board of Trustees. After a president announces his or her intention to leave the role, the board forms a search committee and engages a search firm. While the board will ultimately decide who is Point’s next president, students, faculty, staff and many other stakeholders have already been and will continue to be invited to engage in the process. With their input, the search committee will develop a candidate profile and conduct interviews. The committee will present candidates to the board of trustees, who will select the University’s next president.
When will the search begin?
The search began shortly after President Collins’s announcement of his retirement on September 4, 2024. He plans to step down in summer 2025.
Why is Point using a search firm?
Most colleges and universities engage the services of a search firm to assist in the process of a nationwide search for presidential candidates, and Point is no different. The board of trustees selected FaithSearch Partners (FSP) to assist in this process. FSP assists with developing the candidate profile, seeking out candidates, screening candidates and advertising the position. FSP has a proven track record of selecting excellent candidates for Christian higher education.
How were members of the search committee selected?
The chair of the board of trustees, André Kennebrew, and the executive committee of the board selected the search committee, which is led by trustee Amory Scott. In addition to board members, the committee includes student, faculty and staff representatives.

How will the Point community be informed about the progress of the search?
When appropriate, the chair of the board and the search committee will provide updates to the University community via email and the presidential search website. However, it is important to remember that as with any personnel process, many aspects of the search are confidential. Information such as names of candidates will be kept confidential, which allows those candidates to participate in the search without impact on their current employment or professional standing. Therefore, updates may be infrequent – but this does not mean nothing is happening behind the scenes!
Can I nominate someone – or myself – for the position?
If you are interested in nominating someone, including yourself, as a potential candidate, please send an email to awestmoreland@faithsearchpartners.com. All nominations are confidential, will be reviewed, and considered.
