The B.S. in Middle Grades Education (MGE) program develops and trains middle grades educators to teach fourth through eighth grades who demonstrate the knowledge, skills, professional dispositions, and Christian attitudes associated with being an effective teacher.
Upon graduation students will be fully certified teachers for the state of Georgia. Graduates are credentialed to teach in both public and private schools.

Use reflection, inquiry and critical analysis to improve teaching practices and professional behaviors.
Use skills, attitudes, Christian behaviors and positive interpersonal relationships associated with being an effective teacher with all students.
Students in the program progress from general education courses and foundational education courses into the Teacher Education Program (TEP), which includes three terms of teacher education courses with field experiences. Students choose two of the following areas as a primary concentration and secondary concentration: language arts, math, science and social studies.

Students begin spending time in classrooms at the beginning of their junior year. Most students complete student teaching with Troup County Schools, although some students complete student teaching in other locations.
Upon graduation, students are qualified to teach 4th through 8th grades in public and private schools.
