Person of Concern
If you witness a person of concern on campus, such as someone displaying threatening behavior, carrying a weapon or making others feel unsafe, it is important to act quickly and carefully. Your first priority is safety: if there is an immediate threat, call 911 or campus security right away. Once you are in a safe location, you can help by completing the Person of Concern Form, which allows Point University to gather essential details and respond appropriately. This confidential form provides a way to share what you observed, including descriptions, behaviors and location, so that trained professionals can assess the situation and take the necessary steps to protect the campus community.
Campus Alert System
Point uses the Rave Alert text messaging system to alert students, faculty and staff of emergency situations on campus. Faculty, staff and residential students are added to the system each semester.
Alerts will be sent only if:
- Classes are delayed or cancelled due to inclement weather or another urgent situation;
- A tornado warning or other urgent weather alert is issued by the weather service; or
- Any other situation occurs on campus that requires students, faculty and staff to immediately take shelter.
Other than an occasional test of the system, alerts will only be sent in the above situations. Alerts will not be sent for campus announcements or other routine information. Anyone encountering an emergency situation taking place on campus should call campus security at 404-232-5420.
Opt in to Rave Alert mobile messaging by texting the word “POINTALERT” to the number “67283.”
Text STOP to 67283 to cancel or HELP for tech support.
To edit your Rave Alert account:
- Click on getrave.com/login/point
- For Username, enter your phone number. If an account exists, your username will be sent to you. If no account exists for you, you will be prompted to create one.
- For Password, you will click on “Forgot your password?” You will receive an email from Rave on how to create a password.
- Once you have logged in, you will be able to edit your profile. (During this process, you will be sent a confirmation number to the mobile number you registered in your profile.)
