Day 1: 21 Day Devotional

plus (1)

Throughout the Point University community I know that many of you read your Bible every day.  As I read Scripture I am often struck by the hundreds of prayers that are offered to God.  In the Bible we read prayers by kings and prayers by paupers. We read prayers by victors and prayers by victims.  We read prayers by individuals and prayers by nations.  And time and time again we read how God answers prayer.   When we pray, God not only listens, he acts in our behalf.  God responds to our requests.

Today we begin a 21 day journey in prayer together. As president of Point University I am asking that you join me in praying every day for Point University.  Our mission is to educate students for Christ-centered service and leadership throughout the world.   Our world is filled with people whom God loves and who have great needs.  World hunger, human trafficking, political unrest, economic crisis, sickness, and suffering are all real issues that need a solution. As followers of Christ we believe that God has provided the ultimate answer to all human need by sending a Savior and that He uses His followers as part of the redemption process. We are called to share the good news and to engage in God’s work until He comes again.   This is why at Point we are educating students to be Christ-centered leaders to go and impact the world.  Truthfully we cannot achieve our mission without prayer.

In Acts 4:31-33 we read that when the early Christians prayed God responded and the result was that filled with the Holy Spirit the believers moved with boldness.  But the passage also tells us that they moved together in unity and the church experienced great grace.   As we pray together let’s pray that God would bring a new boldness to Point University and that we would experience unity and experience His grace in a mighty way.

Over the next 21 days you will receive a devotion written by a Point professor or staff member. I hope these devotions will encourage you in your journey and you will join us in our journey to pray for God’s movement in our university.

Dean Collins, President

“And when they had prayed, the place in which they were gathered together was shaken, and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and continued to speak the word of God with boldness. Now the full number of those who believed were of one heart and soul, and no one said that any of the things that belonged to him was his own, but they had everything in common. And with great power the apostles were giving their testimony to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus, and great grace was upon them all.”
Acts 4:31-33 ESV
