Day 3: Unleashed Decisioning

day3-email

“Seek the Lord while he may be found; call on him while he is near.” -Isaiah 55:6 (NIV)

We make countless decisions every day that determine our existence, and some seem so inconsequential that we choose without hesitation or need to question if it is within God’s will. However, often a choice arises that seems to paralyze our decision-making ability because we feel an incorrect choice will have disastrous effects or the “bigness” of the options requires more input from God.

When we reach this threshold, why do we have such burdensome concern? Often our earthly desire to control our destiny produces fears incompatible with our belief in an omniscient God. Regardless of any decisive outcome God’s sovereignty remains.

“We know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to His purpose.” -Romans 8:28 (NIV)

When we acknowledge God and depend on him during our decision-making process, we make choices that are ours but within His will. This process is analogous to the decisions made by a team where the decision process roles are indistinguishable due to the intimacy of the team members. Our intimacy with God combined with the wisdom he grants us helps each of us know intuitively what is the best course of action.

Our intimacy with God combined with His wisdom helps us know what is the best course of action.

“If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.” -James 1:5 (NIV)

Are you facing a decision that seems difficult or has substantial consequences? Do you have a desire to make decisions with less effort that are more compatible with God’s will? Take time to specifically ask God for wisdom in your choices, but, more importantly, ask for opportunities to grow in your relationship with him in an effort to seek greater understanding. Pray for specific opportunities to make impactful decisions that will exponentially grow God’s kingdom and will unleash your ability to make decisions with greater comfort.
