Point University announced today that Jon Ernstberger has been named chief academic officer. Ernstberger has served at nearby LaGrange College since 2008 – most recently, as associate vice president for academic affairs and professor of mathematics.
“Jon is the right person to lead our academics in this season,” said Dean Collins, president of Point. “He was raised in the church and is passionate about Christian education. I’m confident he will be a good fit for Point University.”
Ernstberger earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees in mathematics from Murray State University in Kentucky, then a Ph.D. in applied mathematics from North Carolina State University. He has years of experience in academia, both in the classroom and as an administrator.
“I am deeply honored to accept the position of chief academic officer at Point,” said Ernstberger. “The opportunity to serve in this capacity fills me with excitement, as well as a profound sense of responsibility toward Point’s students, faculty and staff.”
“I am eager to begin working closely with President Collins and the senior leadership team as we strive to advance the academic enterprise at our esteemed institution,” he continued. “Together, we will continue the tradition of excellence that Point University and its community enjoy.”
Ernstberger and his wife, Dr. Stacey Ernstberger, professor of mathematics and advising dean at LaGrange College, live in LaGrange with their two sons, Lucas, 17, and Andrew, 15.
