Giving a Georgia prodigy a chance

Chance Simpson was a lot like other soon-to-be high school graduates—searching for a college where he could learn, grow and pursue his passions. But there was one thing different about Chance’s college journey.

He would be starting college at the age of fourteen.

A child prodigy, Chance attended Georgia Connections Academy where he completed the Georgia state curriculum online at his own pace, allowing him to finish his elementary through high school education in only six years—a record for the academy.

Yet when he was ready to take the next step in his education, his age became a barrier. Because it is a liability to have a student that young on campus, and most schools have policies requiring freshmen to live on campus, Chance was turned away by every college to which he applied.

With no options on the table, his mom came across a Facebook advertisement for Point University’s online program and encouraged Chance to apply. Like his online primary and secondary educations, Point’s online program would allow Chance to overcome age barriers, so he could to excel in the classroom and follow his dream to become a neurologist.

Point’s online programs allow more people to have access to quality, Christ-centered education. No matter age, location, background—any student can find spiritual, professional and academic growth in Point’s online classroom. With a high-touch, high-tech environment, every Point online student receives the same degree of attention as a traditional, residential student and can access the same excellent degree programs and more.

Humble about his academic success, Chance looks forward to starting classes this fall and pursuing a bachelor of science degree in public health online from his home in Mansfield, Georgia.

Point is excited to welcome Chance and other students from a variety of experiences and demographics to the Point Online community this fall.
