Point University President Dean Collins ’79 announced that Jaunelle White will become the University’s next athletic director this fall, following the retirement of longtime coach and administrator Alan Wilson.
“I’m grateful for Alan Wilson’s many years of faithful service to Point and for the impact he’s had on growing and maturing our athletic program,” said Collins. “Jaunelle’s career as an athlete, a student, an administrator, and a person of faith is the reason that she is a perfect fit for Point University. I am looking forward to learning and leading beside her.”
White comes to Point with nearly 20 years of athletic administration experience, particularly at the NCAA Division I level. Most recently, White served as the senior associate athletic director for internal operations and senior women’s administrator at Indiana University—Purdue University Indianapolis. She has served in several athletic administrative roles, including compliance, at Texas Southern, University of South Alabama, Middle Tennessee State University and Louisiana State University.
She holds a master’s degree in education and a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Auburn University.
At Point, White will help continue to maintain the long lineage of athletic success. Last year alone, Point had two coaches earn Conference Coach of the Year recognition, eight athletes at Point earn All-American recognition, and 36 athletes earn AAC All-Conference awards.
“I’m humbled and honored to be the next athletic director at Point University,” said White. “Everything about my time at Point indicated that this was the right time, place and leadership for me to make a move. Providing opportunities for our young leaders to grow in academics, athletics and faith is at the core of our purpose. I’m excited to be a part of Point University’s future success.”
