Point University announced today that Lauren McGuire, operator of Chick-fil-A Poplar Road in Newnan, Georgia, has been named to its board of trustees.
“We are very excited to add Lauren to our board,” said Dr. Stacy A. Bartlett, president. “She is a woman of great faith, and she is a fantastic businesswoman running one of the most popular Chick-fil-A stores in the area. Her knowledge and passion will serve the University well as we seek to fulfill our mission.”
McGuire earned a bachelor’s degree in math and computer science from Furman University, where she played basketball and broke several offensive records. She spent several summers playing basketball in China, Japan, Hong Kong, Taiwan and Macau with Athletes in Action.
McGuire worked for Delta Airlines for nine years as a computer programmer and analyst, integrating Delta’s reservation system with those of other international airlines. Prior to working for Chick-fil-A, she spent 15 years raising and homeschooling her four children. She became the operator of Chick-fil-A Arbor Place Mall in 2011, and in 2019 she relocated to a new freestanding Chick-fil-A on Poplar Road in Newnan.
She has been married to her husband, Perry, for 30 years. They have four children and four grandchildren.
“I am grateful for the opportunity to serve Point University as a new member of the board of trustees,” said McGuire. “As a Christian business-owner, I firmly believe in Point’s mission to educate Christ-centered leaders in the marketplace and throughout the world. I look forward to joining the board and President Bartlett in this mission.”
