Point University announced yesterday that Dr. Allison Kemper, associate professor of science, is the recipient of this year’s Vulcan Teaching Excellence Award.
Established in 1991, the Vulcan Teaching Excellence Awards annually honor an outstanding professor on selected member campuses of the Georgia Independent College Association.
The award recognizes an outstanding faculty member who demonstrates strong academic skills in the classroom and provides leadership and support in the other areas of campus life. The recipients are faculty who assist the institutions in nurturing an academic climate which fosters teaching and who provide leadership to enhance the campus community.
Kemper has served as program coordinator for the exercise science degree program since its inception and SACSCOC approval. She earned her bachelor of science from Shorter College and doctor of physical therapy from Belmont University.
“Dr. Allison Kemper is most deserving of this coveted award,” said Dr. Dedra Woolfolk, dean of the College of Arts and Sciences and professor of natural sciences. “She sets a high standard and expectation for each person that enters her classroom, and our students are blessed to gain the knowledge and expertise that she imparts. Dr. Kemper is well-loved and respected by her peers and students alike, and it is a joy to have her on my team. I’m thrilled that she is the recipient of this award!”
