Point University recently recognized Rachel Backstrom ’28 as the first recipient of the IT Certification Scholarship.
Backstrom has a passion rooted in both personal discovery and spiritual growth, and she exemplifies the values of perseverance, service and dedication that the IT Certification Scholarship seeks to honor.
Backstrom is pursuing the CompTIA Tech+ certification to build a strong foundation in computer technology, a step she sees as critical for her long-term goal of entering the field of cybersecurity. Though not a direct requirement for cybersecurity roles, she believes that gaining a broad understanding of technology will strengthen her expertise, open diverse career opportunities and prepare her for future leadership roles.
