Two Point students were recognized at the Georgia National Association of Teachers of Singing state competition on November 1 at Berry College.
Daniel Stith ’26 won second place in lower non-traditional adult classical and third place in fourth/fifth year upper musical theatre. Madelynn Williams ’25 won first place in advanced American Negro spirituals and second place in fourth/fifth year upper musical theatre. Jace Deloach, private student of Dr. Toni Anderson, won first place in lower children musical theatre. Noah Shelden was the pianist for the students from Point University.
More than 350 students representing 45 voice studios across Georgia participated in the competition hosted at Berry College.
“I am proud of the hard work our students are doing as they prepare for careers in music, and they are already distinguishing themselves as excellent musicians among their peers,” said Andrew Harry, chair of the Department of Fine Arts. “Our students are making important connections at these events, meeting prospective graduate school professors as well leaders of fine arts education organizations and departments.”
Georgia NATS is part of the Southeastern Region of the National Association of Teachers of Singing, the largest professional association of teachers of singing in the world, with more than 7,000 members in the United States, Canada and nearly 30 other countries.
