Point University welcomed alumni to its West Point campus for Homecoming weekend on October 19-21. Alumni, employees, students and the Greater Valley Area community celebrated through a variety of on-campus events and activities.
The weekend kicked off at Spring Road Christian Church for the October chapel service. Students, faculty and staff gathered for worship and a teaching from Ron Lewis ’82, senior minister of the church, centered around this year’s spiritual formation theme, Faith Beyond. After chapel, the community met at the Lanier Academic Center for the first ever Glow Run. Students, families, faculty and even dogs participated in this one-mile run/walk through downtown West Point.
On Friday, graduates from the class of 1973 enjoyed the Milestones Luncheon, where they got to hear news and updates about the University from President Collins. In the afternoon, the College of Biblical Studies and Ministry celebrated the release of Dr. Holly Carey’s new book, Women Who Do, in the Preaching Lab. After the book release party, young alumni met together to bowl before the Fine Arts Homecoming Concert in memory of Dr. Eddie Groover.
Saturday morning, the Point community came together at Ram Stadium for the Homecoming tailgate, where everyone enjoyed food trucks, a rock climbing wall, a video game truck and a performance from the Marching Skyhawks and cheerleaders.
