Point University hosted the Faith and Business Seminar yesterday in the Band Building on its West Point campus.
The seminar featured Andrew Stith, CEO of HonorBuilt, and the McLemore Boys, a father-son cooking duo, best known for their cooking segment on Fox and Friends.
The seminar opened with a presentation from Stith, during which he shared some of his experiences from a career in the business world. Stith shared about being adaptable in your career, being patient for success, experiencing hardships, and the influence and guidance of mentors throughout his career. He then encouraged students directly, “Think about your position — whatever it is — as, ‘How can I be a specialist? What is the essence of this job that I’m doing, and how do I become a specialist and be noteworthy in that?’ Do that and do it as well as you can. Who knows where it will lead?”
Afterward, President Dean Collins and the McLemore Boys joined Stith for a panel discussion about building a business, learning to listen well, building relationships and working hard no matter the industry.
The McLemore Boys closed out the seminar by performing a mock segment of their cooking segment on Fox and Friends. They prepared a brisket butt hoagie sandwich from their cookbook Gather and Grill, which seminar attendees were then able to enjoy for lunch.
A recording of the seminar is available on Point University’s YouTube channel. The Faith and Business Seminar is an annual seminar hosted by the Stith College of Business. Check back soon at point.edu/business-seminar for details about next year’s seminar.
