As a self-proclaimed athlete and as someone who works with athletes on a daily basis, the word “challenge” quickly caught my eye when Point University’s 100 Days of Prayer and Submission campaign was first announced. A challenge gives me focus, determination and drive to complete a task and achieve a goal. While I have always tried to keep the University and its community in my prayers, this challenge has directed me to focus on who and what it is that I am praying for.
Each week, the Traditional Admissions Office meets to discuss the scripture and devotional from President Dean Collins for the week. It has been a time in which we have been able to reflect, discuss and apply in our office and in our own lives. The message for week seven really hit home for me. The scripture spoke about how Moses was taking on too much and it wasn’t beneficial to him or to the nation of Israel that he had so much responsibility and wouldn’t ask for help. While the students are excited about spending the summer in the sun, our office is already gearing up for August and their return, along with the arrival of several hundred new students. The tasks can seem overwhelming at times when we try to do it all on our own. But this scripture and time of prayer served as a reminder, and really a breath of fresh air for me, that we are not alone.
First and foremost, we have Christ who helping and guiding us along the way. I also work with an amazing team that is always willing to lend a hand and help each other out through those tough weeks. Together we persevere through the challenge and achieve our goal. That is what makes a great team, and I look forward to seeing how Point University grows through this challenge.
