Recording Artist Babbie Mason to Serve as December Commencement Speaker

Recording artist Babbie MasonRecording artist and author Babbie Mason will serve as speaker for Point University’s winter commencement ceremony, the University announced this week.

Mason is an award-winning singer, songwriter, author and speaker. The recipient of two Dove Awards and numerous nominations for Dove, Grammy, Stellar and Emmy Awards, Mason’s melodious voice is a mainstay on Christian radio, television, internet and the silver screen. Recognized for her contributions to Christian music, she was inducted into the Christian Music Hall of Fame in 2010. She is the recipient of The Golden Scroll Award from the Advanced Writers And Speakers Association. She has traveled the globe, singing on stages such as the Billy Graham Crusades, The Grammy Awards and Carnegie Hall. She has recorded 26 solo projects, authored nine books, and written countless chart-topping Gospel and Christian songs for herself and artists such as Larnelle Harris, Cece Winans, Ron Kenoly, and the Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir. Her songs have been translated into more than 20 languages and appear in movies such as Denzel Washington’s Deja Vu. Mason has graced the stage with three American presidents: Carter, Ford and Bush.

Embracing the spirit of entrepreneurship, Mason pours into the lives of the next generation of songwriters, music artists and entrepreneurs as an instructor at several colleges and universities, including Lee University, LaGrange College and her alma mater, Spring Arbor University. She hosts her own TV talk show, Babbie’s House, and runs an internet radio station online at babbiemasonradio.com.

The ceremony, with a limited number of tickets available for each graduate, will be held at Unity Baptist Church in Newnan, Georgia, on Saturday, December 17.
